Meet Ross, Supervising Mechanical Engineer and Principal at iFactor. Ross loves to see his projects come to fruition, and with over 16 years at iFactor, he’s closed out over 550 projects! Read on to see what you have in common with Ross!


How did you decide to have a career in the AEC industry?
My dad worked in the same industry, so I grew up in this environment. Whenever I went to his office, I was always impressed by all the full-size plans.


What is your favorite part of your job?
Punch walks are the favorite part of my job. I love going to the project site and seeing that they built what I designed and drew on the plans.


What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Be patient. In Farsi we always say, “the Moon doesn’t always stay behind the cloud.” If you believe you are doing something right, but other people don’t realize it, just be patient.


If you could professionally be anything else outside of the AEC industry, what would you be?
Police officer or a teacher.


What is your favorite go-to meal?
Chick-fil-A, In-N-Out, and Chipotle


If you could give one piece of advice to a young professional entering the engineering field, what would it be?

Always think outside of the box. Be a leader and not a follower. Set your expectations and goals at the highest level and try to achieve it.


What is the greatest work of engineering genius?

Wheels, Electricity, Computer, Internet


What was your first job ever?
Swim instructor. When I was 15, I was hired during the summer to teach elementary school kids how to swim.


What do you like to do in your spare time?
Spend time with my kids, play volleyball and basketball, and biking. I also enjoy doing home improvement work.


When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a police officer.


What’s your favorite place you’ve ever traveled?
Vienna and Rome
